Terre des Hommes

Terre des Hommes

Terre des Hommes was founded in 1965 with the aim of stopping the exploitation of children in developing countries. Terre des Hommes ensures that these children can develop in a safe environment. To achieve that, Terre des Hommes works together with local partners worldwide. This way, children can be helped locally. The local population also benefits from this help.

Children have rights

The UN Convention on the Rights of the Child forms the basis for the work of Terre des Hommes. Help that is offered without making any distinction on the basis of race, religion, gender or political affiliation - this help is needed! Because child exploitation involves serious violations of children's rights. Think of serious forms of child labour, trafficking in children (including for child prostitution), child abuse and unsafe migration.

Structural solution

Terre des Hommes wants to solve child exploitation structurally. It does so by helping the victims and by tackling the problems at their roots. That approach consists of prevention, protection, legal aid for victims, public and political lobbying, working with partners and encouraging community involvement.

Walcheren village procession

The proceeds of the Walcheren Village Tour benefit Terre des Hommes every year. This year, the proceeds will be spent on the project "Action against child labour in Kenya".
